The Jeep Cherokee XJ Overland Roof Rack is a rack that is near and dear to me. I have always been disappointed with the roof racks that have existed on the market. My other businesses have expanded our capabilities, and as we have grown we desired to enter the off-road world. We have been manufacturing our products for nearly a decade right here in southeastern Pennsylvania. We are dedicated to offering products that are manufactured here in the US. Let’s talk about what this roof rack isn’t, then we will talk about what it is. Weird, I know. Hear me out.

What this roof rack isn’t

I wanted to present a few truths about the Exo Overland XJ Roof Rack. Let’s lay them out:

• This roof rack is not for people who want something that is tall.
• This roof rack is not for people who desire an ultra heavy roof rack.
• This roof rack is not for people who would rather buy products made in Korea or Asia.
• This roof rack is not for people who like to assembly poorly designed products.
• This roof rack is not for people who like to have to use 17 different sockets for installation of a product.
• This roof rack is not for people who would rather buy something cheap that makes their XJ ugly.

I think you catch my drift here.

Let’s talk about what this roof rack IS.

The Jeep Cherokee XJ Overland Roof Rack is a rack designed for people who desire more. These folks want a low profile solution. One that accents the body line of their XJ and adds another layer of capability to a remarkable platform. This roof rack is compact, low to the roof, designed to follow body lines, and adds minimal weight to your vehicle. When we are talking roof racks, lighter and lower is always better. With modern materials and manufacturing practices, it is easy to make a strong rack light.

Features of the XJ Overland Roof Rack:

We knew this roof rack needed to be light, so we started out with high quality 3/16″ Aluminum. The side rails, the front windshield and rear windshield are all this 3/16″ Aluminum. Every part is laser cut to exacting tolerances. All pieces are painstakingly designed to fit perfectly every time. You will find precision CNC press brake bent parts with proper relief cuts to avoid fatigue and cracking over time. Here is a rundown of a few more features of this roof rack:

• CNC Laser cut to exacting standards
• 3/16″ Aluminum side rails, front and rear windscreen, and 1X2 aluminum Tee Slot Extrusions
• 3/16″ Steel rain gutter mounts
• 14 Ga bent rain gutter straps
• 5/16″ Stainless steel spacers
• 1/4″-20 Stainless Steel Flange Head Bolts (Screw those Allen button head screws…pun intended)
• All areas where bolts pass through feature press fit nut inserts
• NO NUTS, NO PROBLEMS!

One Tool, One Size Bolt.

A notable feature of the XJ Overland Roof Rack is the fact that you only need ONE bolt. Talk about simply. You can completely install this roof rack in about an hour. The instructions are easy to follow, and the design is very intuitive. We’ve all suffered through those horrible products that have bad instructions and a million parts. You will not find that experience with this roof rack. All you will need is one 3/8″ Open end wrench or a ratchet with a 3/8″ Socket. We include everything else in this kit. Oh, we also include a tube of blue thread locker. Pretty Rad.

1X2 Extrusions for the ultimate in flexibility.

Seven 1X2 aluminum extrusions are included with your roof rack. Extrusions offer the most flexibility for mounting accessories. Simply Tee Slot Hardware (Like THIS or THIS). Most accessories will mount simply to these extrusions. Additionally, you will find that the extrusions maintain extreme rigidity but still are lightweight. Load is spread across all seven extrusions, then to the side rails and onto the structural rain gutter on your XJ.

Tie Down Mounts are integrated between each rain gutter mount

In addition to all the previous features, we also placed tie down mounts between every gutter mount. Tie down all your gear and accessories safely and securely. The low profile design means your center of gravity is affected as little as possible. Tall, heavy, cumbersome roof racks make your rig top heavy. This can be extremely dangerous and it also adds excessive wind drag while driving. More wind drag means you burn more fuel and your rig experiences more wear and tear.

Powder coat finish wraps up the whole package

What makes a roof rack even better? A powder coat finish. While no finish can resist ALL impacts, scrapes, or wear and tear, powder coat is a great option. In addition to aesthetics, the powder coat protects the steel brackets from rusting and the aluminum from oxidizing. You’ve invested a ton of time into your rig. It deserves a rack that makes it better.
